WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING
OSHA’s General Duty clause requires employers to provide a safe environment for employees that includes a worksite free from workplace violence. Gun violence, criminal assault, and workplace violence statistics continue to exceed the previous year’s numbers as communities recover from years of pandemic isolation, political upheaval, and social unrest. Workers in all industries are at increased risk of violence at work, within our communities, and even at home.
Legacy Protective’s Workplace Violence Prevention and Active Shooter training goes beyond just a response to a workplace violence event. We inform participants of the past and current active shooter and workplace violence trends and statistics. However, our focus is on spotting the indicators of a potential workplace violence event and how to identify the Pathway to Violence indicators. These lessons go beyond the workplace and are helpful in any scenario in which a known individual may have thoughts of committing violence, not just in the workplace. Intervention and mitigation options are presented to assist in preemptively addressing potential violence.
The presentation includes the Department of Homeland Security and FBI best practices for workplace violence planning, prevention, and response. The response portion of the presentation is tailored to the Emergency Action or Response Plan for the focus audience or property. The goal is ultimately to give participants greater confidence to prepare, prevent, or respond to violence in the workplace.
The Workplace Violence Prevention for Planners is for organization leaders to create comprehensive emergency response plans to support potential workplace violence. This presentation includes the critical steps DHS provides to develop a preparedness plan. Tips for planning teams and necessary resources are provided to aid planners in developing a workplace violence preparedness and response plan.
