POST-ASSIGNMENT TRAINING (OJT)

Legacy Protective, LLC follows the requirements laid out by the Washington State Department of Licensing in the application of our Post Assignment Training Program.  Eight hours of initial post assignment training must be in the topic areas established by the director and may be classroom instruction or individual instruction, or both.  Post assignment training guidance can be found on the DOL website and incorporates guidelines established by WAC 308-18-300.

Annual Refresher Training

– is a minimum of four hours of training and can focus on customer service-related skills or topics and emergency response concepts, skills, or topics including but not limited to knowledge of site post orders or life safety.  Topics for refresher training will build upon OJT topics or from topics to satisfy other mandated training requirements.

  • The minimum topics addressed for OJT and Refresher Training are as follows:

    1. Basic role of private security guards
    2. Security awareness
    3. Private security guards and the criminal justice system
    4. Information sharing
    5. Crime and loss prevention
  • Legal aspects of private security:

    1. Evidence and evidence handling
    2. Use of force
    3. Court testimony
    4. Incident scene preservation
    5. Equal employment opportunity (EEO) and diversity
    6. State and local laws
  • Security officer conduct:

    1. Ethics
    2. Honesty
    3. Professional image
  • Observation and incident reporting:

    1. Observation techniques
    2. Note taking
    3. Report writing
  • Principles of communication:

    1. Interpersonal skills
    2. Verbal communication skills
    3. Building relationships with law enforcement
    4. Customer services and public relations

  • Principles of access control:

    1. Enter and exit control procedures
